From Taipei to Taitung

At six in the morning I woke up to the sunshine of a new day. I was filled with excitement, of being to fly again, and this time on a domestic flight over the island. My mind wondered, what the scenery would look like...

Arrived at Sungsan (松山) Airport, and passed through ID control. All sorts of planes big and small were parked at the airport. People like to fly, even if the flight is for half an hour or less (like twelve minutes on one route to my suprise). Being an archipelago means that flying is also the fastest and less nauseating way of getting around. In the background, the Yanming Mountains rose into the skies...houses, highrises and the Dazhi (大直) suspension bridge glistened in the morning sun.

As we took off, the ground became smaller. And my sight was focused on the buildings and places I could recognise...Taipei 101 towered over the south of the city...green mountains rose out of the hustle of a sea of tall buildings...mountain ranges lay like sleeping dragons, with their spiked backs firmly next to one another, stretching as far as the eye can see.

A few minutes into the flight, we approached the Eastern Coast. Below was the Pacific, and I watched with silenced breath at the beauty as the coastline snaked along the crystal clear sea. Mountains after mountains peaked above the fluffy white cotton clouds, while the hot summer sun beat beams of gold onto the earth. Once again, Formosa took my breath away...
